A Short Biography of Sam Hane

S.A. Hane Sr. and his wife Agatha

Samuel Aliester Hane Jr. was born on June 23rd, 1955, in Innsmouth, MA. His father was the famed archaeologist S. A. Hane, who some say was the model for the fictional character of "Indiana Jones." Much of the elder Hane's work is on file at Miskatonic University.

The "original" Sam Hane founded the Detective Agency in the late 1870s, and spent much of his life in the Arizona Territory, discovering the famed Cthulhu Coprolite and writing the definitive monograph on certain practices of the Pamo Indians (now extinct).

Sam Jr. graduated from Miskatonic University in 1976, with honors, and served with the US Army JFK Special Warfare Center, where his knowledge of Middle Eastern culture and languages came in handy.

He served eleven years with the Boston PD, rising to the rank of Detective, and specializing in the investigation of esoteric and cult activities with the famed "Department 12" task force. He received a Letter of Commendation for his activities in exposing the activities of the Thugee Cult in 1983, and the Medal of Valor for his service against the nefarious Cip Cult in 1985.

The evil Mind-Control Device of the Cip Cult

In 1990 he opened his office as a private investigator in Arkham, and continued his studies at Miskatonic U., receiving his Masters in 1992.

He is a member of the Miskatonic Alumni Association, the National Association of Private Investigators, the Police Marksman Association, the National Association of Insurance Investigators, the National Rifle Association, the Friends of Smoke Bomb Hill, and several other groups.
