AT A CON

Not all Cons will have all of these things, but most will have a good selection of them ..... look for these things at the Con:
- Art Show: this is where you can bid on and buy SF art
- Autograph sessions: get the Pros autographs
- Awards Banquets: usually found at the larger Cons
- Concerts: formal performances by filkers
- ConSuite: this is a place for people to gather and talk, it may serve light munchies
- Dance: dancing, modern and/or Regency (usually instruction in Regency dancing is available)
- Filking: singing of songs, usually all night long
- Freebies: buttons, posters, all kinds of free stuff
- Gaming: both board, LARP (Live Action Role-Playing) and computer; most Cons have at least two of the three
- Internet Lounge: connect to the Net
- JapAnimation: Japanese animated films/cartoon
- Masquerade: this is the place to show off and look at costumes and makeup and occasional SFX
- Meet-The-Pros Party: meet the Pros in a "cocktail party" format
- Merchants/Hucksters/Dealers: this is where you can buy STUFF
- Movie Promos and Previews: advance screenings and previews
- Panels: (see here)
- Readings: hear the Pros read their own works, sometimes published, sometimes in-progress
- Room Parties: parties held in hotel rooms for various reasons/causes
- Video: SF on TV/movies
- Writers Workshops: learn how to write good
There could very well be other things happening. Read the various posters and notices that you'll see around the Con, and read the Con newsletter (if there is one), and you'll keep informed!
Remember that some of the best stuff that happens at a Con might not be listed in the Program Book, so be sure to look at the posters!
