Most of our outside guys just wandered in. They are pretty much feral, but love us to death. Here's some pics.
Yes, all are neutered, and all have had their shots.
![]()
This is CC, short for "Christmas Cat." She wandered in one Christmas Day and attached herself to us. She's a wonderful, affectionate beauty of a girl, and is Queen Of The Street. She's the Alpha outside hoodlum. Her eyes really are gold.
WINSTON
![]()
Winston arrived skinny, scared to death and yelling for help under one of our bushes. She's still pretty spooky until she gets to know you, but after that you need a crowbar to get her out of your lap. Don't believe her Sad Story; she's lying. Her coat has an undercoat of brown that makes her look like she's wearing a high grade Russian sable coat. We decided that she's an exiled Russian Royal Princess. Don't let her good looks fool you though. She can change into the Cat From Hell, and kick butt right alongside CC and OC.
4
![]()
This is "4" ("of 5" of course!) She always has a perpetually startled expression on her face, and is always ready to be petted. She also is quite vocal, and will tell you a long, sad story about how difficult her life is. We're babysitting her for The Dumb Girl 1 while TDG is in Alaska.
![]()
Below are the Inside Guys. They have it pretty soft indeed. They are all rescues/adoptions.
OLIVER
![]()
Oliver is Oliver. Demands affection, very sweet and fluffy, and almost as laid back as Zooot is. You can't help but fall in love with the little jerk. He'll land in your lap too, or crawl right up your shirtfront to sit on your shoulder. That's his tongue under his nose. He came to us from the Res 3.
ZOË
![]()
Zoë (the cat, as opposed to Zoë the Rottweiler who also lives here) is our Survivor. She got really sick, had to be in isolation and given intravenous fluids, but she made it somehow. Around her, you have to remember that It's All About Zoë. All the time.

LLYAN
![]()
LLyan (pronounced Hl-ee-on" ... it's Welch) was my first Abyssinian cat, and a strange one indeed. She hardly ever walked on the floor, but preferred to jump and levitate around on the furniture, bookshelves, the Irish Wofhound's back, or peoples' shoulders. She was Alpha cat until the day she died.
FREYA
(no picture)
Freya was strange. I found her as a tiny kitten, and I held her in my hand, she gave a silent meow of hello, and I fell in love with her. She was smarter than most cats, admitted when she made a mistake, and would get chased by her own tail. We've got lots of funny stories about her, most revolving around her constant heckling of Mischa..
When at a ripe old age she died in my arms, she looked at me, and gave me the silent meow to say goodbye. We're convinced that she voluntarily reincarnated as a cat just to have a little fun.
MISCHA
(no picture)
Mischa was a Maine Coon that we adopted from a friend of ours on the Scottsdale PD.
After Freya died, Mischa just pined away.
MAB
(no picture)
Mab was a Maine Coon, and due to being really sick as a kitten was a bit brain-damaged. She adopted Phillip as her person, and would sleep with him, wash his hair and in general be his MomCat.
When he went to school, she'd wait for him by the front door until he came home. When he went off to college, we almost lost her because she laid by the door waiting and wouldn't eat for the longest time.
SARAH THE HUN
(no picture)
Sarah The Hun was a calico shorthair with a strange idea of fun. She'd get high up on the bookshelf and lay in wait for Bischen, then do a banzai leap right on top of her. They would immediately get into a hair-pulling contest, with Bishen yelling at the top of her lungs and Sarah purring happily. She belonged to TDG1.
BISCHEN
(no picture)
Bischen was Jeremy's cat. She was a Siamese, sort of, because she looked like she was made with a hatchet. Quite a pain in the butt at times.
ACHLANN
(no picture)
Achlann was a Scottish Fold, and had an attitude. He looked small, until you picked him up and realized there were at least three cats in there. He was a grey-black in color, looked like an ambulatory brick, and would sleep in the middle of the hall. If it was dark, you would trip over him .... and he wouldn't move, he was physically that dense. You'd land on your face, and he'd look at you as if nothing out of the ordinary had happened.
LUATH
(no picture)
Luath was an odd-eyed white and smarter than many humans. I could go on and on about him, but I'll simply leave it at this: he walked thru walls.
SENNACHADH
(no picture)
Sennachadh was another odd-eyed white that we adopted. He was sick when we got him so he wasn't with us very long, but he is missed nonetheless.
THUNDERBABY
(no picture)
Thunderbaby was Sweet Lady Wife's mother's cat. He was a mostly black tuxedo cat, and LARGE. When he ran thru the house, it sounded like thunder on the floors. When Mom died, we took him and kept him in honorable, comfortable and very spoiled retirement until he joined her.
RAJAH
![]()
Rajah was an Abyssinian who we adopted at age nine, so she was pretty old and cranky. If you've never heard an Abby growl or scream in anger, you've missed something special. Our housemate was convinced we had a mountain lion loose in the house the day Raj arrived and was grumping a lot. Raj tended to live on the kitchen counter, or she opened a cabinet and slept in there. Abbys are Odd. Other cats may think they are the Rulers Of The Universe, but Abbys CREATED the Universe. She was our second Abby, and my Sweet Lady Wife argued with the first one too.
O.C.
![]()
O.C. (the "Other Cat" or "Orange Cat") arrived after CC. He was pretty beat up, with an open wound down his right hind leg. We finally convinced him we were not going to dismember and eat him, got the Vet to fix him up, and he hung around ever since. What CC could not handle, he finished, be it food or a fight. The photo doesn't show how really LARGE he was. Unfortunately, he had no kind of a decent "meow," only an anemic squeaky noise. The war cry was another matter entirely.
He and Sebastian just disappeared one day. We don't know what happened.
![]()
This is Sebastian, also a Babysat Cat from TDG. He was not real social, and thought he was a tough guy, so he got beat up a lot. Even Winston beat him up. The olive tint to his coat is the true color. Very odd.
PRYDERI
![]()
Pryderi couldn't seem to get it thru her head that there would always be food, so she ate as much as she could every time. FATCAT!
She died of old age in mid-August of 2007.WHISK
![]()
Whisk was a joy. Very affectionate, low maintenance and a true lady. Hard to tell her apart from 4 sometimes. We lost her in February of 2008.
ZOOOT
![]()
Zooot .... had extra toes and was HUGE. He's "Zooot" because he's a boy, and "Zoot" is a girl's name, as is "Dingo 2." Very mellow and easy going. You sit down and he'd be in your lap soon enough. He went on his way in 2008.
RUMBLE
![]()
Rumble is one of "Those Kinds Of Cats." Way too smart, and Sweet Lady Wife was His Person. He got miffed when she was out of town and does not take him along. He was the only cat who slepts with us. We had no choice in the matter. He was a wonderful, hellofaniceguy of a cat. He would retrieve toy mice for you all day. And night. And wake you up to play Mouse. He also only had to see something once to learn it. Too damn smart, and I'm glad he did not have thumbs.
![]()
Here's another pic of him, a bit younger. We miss him.

D'ARTANGNAN
I can't think of D'Artangnan without tearing up a bit. He was a runty little foster kitten with the heart of a lion. We all loved him to death, and probably would have kept him, but he never made it out of kittenhood. He had FIP, and it killed him, far too young.
SEBASTIAN
Sebastian (no relation to the Sebastian above) was a tuxedo cat with a great personality. Our housemate was raised in the circus, so she spent many hours teaching him to jump up on a stool, sit up on his hind legs, wave his front paw in the air and roar. He only managed a mew, however.
CHARLIE AND THE COWS
Charlie and the Cows were a gang of four cats; Charlie was grey and the others were white spots on black like cows. They went everywhere together. They would thunder thru the house in a pack, getting into trouble and keeping all of us highly amused.
HOOVER
Hoover was a silly, sweet little kitten with a prelidiction for diving headfirst behind the cushions of a chair to see if he could fit. One afternoon, he gave a strange mew, and died. We never found out why.
LORELEI
Lorelei was a Norwegian Forest Cat and tremendously beautiful. She was found as a stray behind a Safeway, and because of her age was unadoptable. We gave her a home for the last few months of her life, and when she went into her final coma Oliver the cat laid by her side all day and into the night. He stayed there until 6:30 in the morning when I checked on her and found her gone.
I'm nominating him for sainthood.
BINKY, TEDDY AND TILLIE
![]()
Binky (the orange one) and Teddy and Tillie The Terrible Twins. They were here a bit longer than most because they got really sick. Definitely worth saving, as they are real hooligans.
![]()
There have been many others that have passed thru, as we are a foster home for cats in need of adoption.
We have and have had a LOT of cats ........ but I wouldn't have it any other way.
Please buy my CDs so I am not thrown into the clutches of evil things like Social Workers and Welfare Hags.
